Cups

Ok, admittedly pretty boring one today. Got less to show from the past couple of weeks as have been quite busy with birthdays and partying and so on. That wall hit me pretty hard too. Anyway, still keeping it up!

I actually hate drawing cups. Mugs, tubes, anything vaguelly cyllindrical. Always get the perspective wrong, the curves wrong... It always just looks wrong. However, was lacking for inspiration last night despite having been to a fairly entertaining photo exhibition launch earlier on. So I drew the abandonned tea mugs on my table just as they were. Gotta fight against your natural urges to avoid things because you think they are 'difficult' I always reckon.

Anyway, they still look a little wrong, and some of that background shading is way over aggressive, over the top and not particularly well thought out, but as something that started as a fairly random doodle, I'm actually pretty happy with it : )

Also, I realise that the brown pencil thing is probably getting a little tired. Really need to get back in to colors again soon...

Some sort of warm brown caran d'ache pencil on actually really good thick sketchpad paper.
